Designing for accessibility

The Optimise Team, within the broader Department of Customer Service, is responsible for the creation and governance of components to be used across the entire NSW Gov platform.

As part of my engagement with the team, I created a Data Visualisation library to be utilised across multiple NSW Gov platforms. My goal here was to improve the accessibility and readability of the data, and help NSW Gov connect to their audience in a way that helps the user frame the data and create meaning.

Usability testing

After some great progress on the Data Visualisation library, we conducted A/B testing on the designs. Our purpose being to understand the usability of different methods for displaying data.

For the purposes of this testing, we determined usability by which method followed the natural behaviour of the user as well as user preference.
Due to the NDA agreement I have with DCS, I'm unable to disclose the data visualisation library or the results of our A/B testing. If you'd like to learn more about our findings, I'm happy to discuss in more detail during an interview.
